Laser Hair Removal FAQ
This is the most common question we receive about laser hair removal. Most clients describe the sensation as a light snap of a rubber band against the skin. Comfort, however, is a top priority at KT Brazilian Aesthetic. Our GentleMax Pro Plus machine uses a patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) that delivers a cooling cryogen spray to the skin milliseconds before each laser pulse. This cooling effect significantly reduces discomfort compared to older machines or waxing.
Absolutely. Safety for all skin types is one of the main reasons we chose the GentleMax Pro Plus. It features a specific wavelength called Nd:YAG (1064nm) that bypasses the pigment in your skin to target the hair follicle directly. It is widely considered one of the safest and most effective options worldwide for darker or tanned skin types, avoiding the burn risks associated with older technologies.
Hair grows in cycles (Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen), and laser hair removal only works on hair in the active growth phase (Anagen). Because not all hairs are in this phase at once, multiple sessions are required. Typically, clients see an 80-90% reduction in hair after 4 to 6 sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart. Maintenance sessions may be needed once a year thereafter to maintain long-term smoothness.
There is virtually no downtime with our laser treatments. You might experience slight redness or bumpiness immediately after the treatment (which is a good sign the follicle was treated!), but this usually subsides within a few hours to a day. You can return to work or normal activities immediately. We do advise avoiding direct sun exposure, hot showers, and heavy workouts for 24 hours to allow the skin to calm down.
To ensure the best results from your laser hair removal session, please shave the area to be treated 24 hours before your appointment. Avoid waxing, plucking, or electrolysis for 4-6 weeks prior, as the root must be present for the laser to work. Also, please avoid direct sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before treatment to prevent skin sensitivity.
